Science
At Prince Avenue we aim to inspire pupils and develop their curiosity and ability to problem solve through our science curriculum. Through our curriculum we intend to expose children to experiences which develop their vocabulary, communication and numeracy skills. They will foster a love of learning, gain greater independence and embrace failure. This will lead to a trust and understanding in science and will open up their world around them. We also strive to bring light to the diversity in science and where the subject can lead in future learning and careers.
We are committed to:
-
Encouraging our pupils to explore and investigate the world around them
-
Giving our pupils space and freedom to ask questions to develop their understanding of science
-
Providing our pupils with hands on experiences for them to take charge of their own learning
-
Allowing pupils to make mistakes and learn from them, to know that not all investigations go to plan
-
Sparking an interest and love of science and how science helps us everyday
Prince Avenue pupils will:
-
Be confident in communicating their ideas
-
Use scientific equipment safely and appropriately
-
Be able to set up and carry out investigations with increasing independence
-
Understand and draw conclusions from results
-
Show resilience and curiosity when an unexpected outcome arises
-
Consider continuing their education in the science subjects beyond GCSEs
