Since September 2016 we have been looking at ways in which we can support Young Carers within our school. At the moment we meet with some of our KS2 children at an invited Young carers group after school.
This term we have based our activities on wellbeing. We have relaxed to music, made calming jars, created gifts for those we love, planted flowers, made fruit salad and generally enjoyed ourselves!
What is a young carer?
A young carer is a child/young person under the age of 18 who provides care in, or outside of,
the family home for someone who is physically or mentally ill, disabled or misusing drugs or alcohol.
If you have any questions or would like further information, please speak with Mrs Cooper, Miss Burrell or Mrs Thornton (senior lead) in school.
Alternatively Southend Young Carers continue to offer support and activities throughout the year. If you would like more information please contact
