Southend Utd Footballers Visit Prince Avenue
On Monday 21st March 2016 Gary Deegan and Noel Hunt came to visit Prince Avenue. In assembly they talked about the commitment required to be a professional footballer.
Noel started playing at 13 years old, inspired by his older brother Stephen. He had played international football for Ireland and his previous clubs include Ipswich, Reading and Leeds.
Gary is also from Ireland and his previous clubs include Coventry, Hibernian and Northampton. He started playing football when he was 7 years old.
The pupils asked the players lots of questions and found out that they train 6 days per week and even had to train on Christmas day. Players have to eat healthy food and stay fit if they are to perform at their best.
