The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England
to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the
gaps between them and their peers. The amount given to each school is
determined by the number of pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
and/or the number of children who have been looked after (in care) for 1 day or
more. Any child who has been adopted from care or who has left care under a
special guardianship order, a residence order or a child arrangement order will
also be eligible for the Pupil Premium.
At Prince Avenue Academy we believe that all pupils regardless of circumstances
should be supported to excel at school. We have the highest aspirations for all of
our pupils and are committed to do all that we can to enable success.
‘Funding is used well to support disadvantaged pupils who achieve as well as, and
sometimes better than, other pupils nationally by the end of key stage 2.’ (Ofsted
Report March 2017)
