Year 2 Assembly
This was a right Royal affair! We were treated to a journey through the history of the Royal Family. It was amusing and fun – well done Year 2, we really enjoyed your assembly.
Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly
This is next Friday 21st July and starts at 9.30 a.m.; refreshments will be available from 8.40 a.m. in the main hall.
Thank you for attending our open afternoon, it was lovely to see so many people. I hope you enjoyed looking around our school and in particular, your own child’s classroom.
After school Clubs
The clubs are finished for the term on completion of today’s SUFC and Summer Sports for Y4, 5,& 6. Our child care After School Club will run next week as usual.

- KS2 – Tuesday 18th July from 1.30 p.m.
On both days, spectators will have access to the school field via the playground. When the event is finished, you are asked to wait on the playground when the children will come out at the usual home time. The PTA will be providing refreshments for visitors & spectators.
Borough Sports Photos
If you would like to see photos from the Borough Sports, please visit our website. You will find them in the parent section under “extra-curricular”. The children received their certificates, medals and trophies this week in a special assembly. They should all be very proud of their achievements.
Some of the younger children in our school approached me and asked if they could raise money for cancer research. After chatting to them about how they planned to do this, it was agreed they could “have a go!” They made their own “character/picture cards” of various designs and set about selling them to staff and pupils for 10p per card. Yesterday was the final counting day and I am proud to announce, they raised a super £23.11! I think this is pretty good going at 10p per card. A big well done and congratulations to Harriet Brown, Rhylee Bishop, Maddison Jennings, Diesel Langhorn, Jasmin Reed, Robbie-Jay Nicklas and Kacey-Lee Tipper. We will raise a cheque for the amount raised and send it off to Cancer Research UK as soon as possible.
Academic Results 2016/2017
We have just received our KS2 SATs results for this year. I am very pleased to share with you; for the second year running, the school is above the National Average for pupils attaining the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Mathematics combined. Well done to all the children and staff for working so hard to achieve such good results. A full set of results will be published in September.
Fuel at School - family support, food and fun!
Many of you are aware that during the spring term breaks we piloted a project to open the school kitchen and provide a meal to children in receipt of free school meals (because of their financial circumstances), or experiencing financial hardship for other reasons.
We know that for some making ends meet in the holidays is difficult and this can impact on a child’s health and learning, not to mention an
enormous amount of stress!
So, volunteers from the school are working in partnership with the Storehouse, local businesses and other charitable organisations to run the programme for free and to continue our support.
The project has been a success - visitors told us they enjoyed the food and activities and benefitted from general support and advice from staff and volunteers.
We are running our ‘fuel at school’ project every Thursday throughout the summer break. Further details will follow.
If you are experiencing financial difficulty and would like to attend, let a member of the office team know and we will be in touch. We will manage your enquiry discreetly. Family Support ‘drop in’ - We know the school holidays can be a challenge, so our offer of family support will continue during the school holidays. Times will be published next week along with information about free and low cost activities in the local area.
Caroline Thornton - Pastoral Care and Inclusion Manager.
This was presented to Class 7 today for achieving a maximum 100% attendance last week – very well done all of you!
SUMMER FAMILY PICNIC
During the holidays, we will be hosting 2 picnic days on Monday 31st July & Monday 14th August on the field at the front of the school site. There will be a tuck shop available. You should bring your own picnic, drinks and toys; it will be an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other. More details to follow. Donations of outdoor toys would be very welcomed if you have any unwanted items – thank you.
Next Week –“FAVOURITES MENU”
The children were allowed to choose their own menu for the last week of term and following a vote on their favourites, the menu will be as follows:
- Monday – Cheese & Ham or Cheese & Tomato Pizza with Fruit Lollipop for dessert
- Tuesday – Sweet & Sour Chicken or Sweet & sour Quorn with Noodles and Assorted Ice Creams for dessert
